I am super excited about this organization, Locks of Love. For the last three and a half years, I have been growing my hair out. Mostly because my migraines make anyone messing with my hair really painful. Last week, I decided that it was time to finally get my hair cut. This is how long my hair was before the cut:
First the stylist cut my hair off at my shoulders just above my ponytail. This was the hair I was donating and it was 16 inches. Then I had even more cut off. By the time the hair cut was complete, I had more than 18 inches taken off my head.
This is my hair now:
Locks of Love is a great place to donate hair if you have at least 10 inches cut off. Here is what their website says they are all about:
What is Locks of Love?
Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. We meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.
I believe that more people should do this if they can. Share you before and after pictures if you decide to donate to Locks of Love.
